Adult Immunization
Each year, approximately 800 Massachusetts residents die from influenza-related complications, and 2,600 are hospitalized1. Influenza (the flu) is one of the leading causes of vaccine-preventable deaths2.
Masspro is working with home health agencies throughout the state to incorporate influenza and pneumococcal immunization into their comprehensive patient assessment. Agencies will
complete a survey to evaluate the incorporation of screening for flu and pneumococcal vaccine into their assessments, provision of the vaccines, and follow-up with patients who receive vaccine from another source. Based on these results, Masspro will work with agencies to increase their screening rates, offer information and methods to improve vaccine administration, and encourage agencies to follow-up on patients receiving vaccine from an alternative source.
