Acute care hospitalization (ACH) can be costly to both the patient and payer. The Medicare program estimates that the average cost of an acute care hospitalization is $3,506 per day with an average length of stay of 5.9 days1. Thesefigures would indicate a cost of $20,685 per patient per hospitalization.
