As the authority on healthcare quality improvement in Massachusetts, Masspro is leading a variety of initiatives in the hospital setting to aid in the delivery of olympic- class patient care. Funded through its contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Masspro’s patient safety team is engaging the senior leadership and frontline quality improvement staff of selected Massachusetts hospitals to develop best practices in the following project areas:
Additional Masspro hospital quality improvement initiatives include promoting improvements in clinical performance measurement and reporting; systems adoption and use; effective redesign of care processes; and changes in organizational culture.
Working with Masspro, hospitals can expect to achieve high performance on their HQA (Hospital Quality Alliance) measures used by both CMS and the Joint Commission, decrease costs, reduce repeat admissions, improve customer satisfaction, contribute to the community by reducing morbidity from a variety of illnesses, and most importantly, ensure that the right care is given to every patient every time.
Masspro achieves success by engaging a wide array of personnel within a hospital to participate in each initiative. Critical to an initiative’s success is the active participation and expressed support of a hospital’s chief executive officer (CEO). Masspro enhances a hospital’s quality improvement practices through individual consultation, group collaboratives, list serves, video and teleconference presentations.
Hospitals participating in our initiatives also receive the latest information on scientific findings, updated guidelines, and best practices. Masspro shares this knowledge both “virtually” and via face-to-face collaborative meetings at which hospitals develop relationships with other hospitals in Massachusetts. These reciprocal exchanges allow participants to garner the latest information about clinical initiatives, and share both successful practices and potential barriers to success with colleagues who have the same level of interest in pursing healthcare excellence.
