 Started in 2000, the “flu-shot finder” Web site is a vital resource to both the general public and health care providers looking to refer their patients for influenza vaccination. From October through January, the site lists comprehensive details for approximately 1,000 public clinics organized by local health departments and private businesses such as grocery stores, pharmacies, and other retailers.
During the 2004–05 flu season, when vaccine was largely unavailable due to manufacturing problems, the site provided the most up-to-date information regarding public health orders, vaccine availability, and alternative infection control methods.
