depression
Depression is a medical problem that can effect how you think, behave and feel. Nursing homes residents may be at high risk for developing depression due to loss of spouse or family member, chronic pain or illness, difficulty to adjusting to a nursing home, frustration with memory loss, or because of changes with physical status. Untreated it can affect the nursing home resident’s quality of life.
Masspro through its work with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 8th Scope of Work, is collaborating with Nursing Homes to improve the identification and management of depressive symptoms by providing education to Nursing Homes through a variety of strategies: learning session, peer-to-peer collaboratives, on-site visits, technical assistance, statistical analysis, workbooks, telephone consultation and conference calls.
