Beneficiary Protection Case Studies
A beneficiary’s representative filed a quality of care complaint with Masspro regarding the care the beneficiary received from a primary care physician. The specific complaint was that the physician did not investigate the signs and symptoms the beneficiary was experiencing, and as a result, the beneficiary developed a serious illness.
Following a review of the medical record, Masspro identified that the physician did not perform preventive screening services as recommended, and upon the completion of an intensified review, a pattern of lack of preventive screening was discovered.
As a result of Masspro’s request for a quality improvement plan, the physician implemented computerized record keeping and initiated an assessment form that detailed necessary screening tests, ultimately leading to the provision of preventive screening as recommended.
